In the United States, the dome has become an architectural icon of choice for government buildings. Their stateliness adds beauty that fits the grandeur of most capitol buildings, a status-marking identification.

Domes are strong, curved structures that cover a large space without a single supporting column. Prior to domes, buildings were only built rectangular with supportive columns.

The first appearance of domes was as round huts and tombs in the ancient Middle East, India, and the Mediterranean. Around 100 AD, Roman engineers began experimenting with arches and found by rotating an arch in a circle a three-dimensional shape was created. Domes became very popular accenting the rooftops of churches and mosques creating a brilliant design.

The early domes were made of stone. One of the earliest domes constructed was the Pantheon, which was so heavy the engineers carved shapes along the walls to reduce the weight. An opening was also cut at the tops called the oculus, or the eye of the dome, which helped reduce the weight plus allowed sunlight in.

The domes were being built taller and taller by 532AD, causing an increased problem with weight. This problem soon was solved with the creation of arches with windows that allowed sunlight to enter without weakening the structure.

In the 18th Century, the dome on St. Peter’s Basilica began cracking. Iron rings called tension rings were place around the structure. This not only saved this structure but served as a new way to construct domes.

By the early 1400’s, engineers in Rome began building two domes in one to create an illusion of height. Iron rings held up the thin outer shell, with a smaller dome underneath. The smaller dome being only visible from the inside, the dome that graces our nation’s Capitol is built like this.

Domes have been called the perfect architectural shape, the circle being a symbol of the universe. The high dome often gold in color is shaped like a giant head of authority. One of the ancient cosmological meanings of the dome is that of “celestial helmet.”

No wonder, the dome has since become a universal symbol of government. Their stateliness adds beauty that fits the grandeur of most capitol buildings, a status-marking identification. In the United States, the dome of the Massachusetts state Capitol, established the dome as a distinctive feature for state Capitols as well as our nation’s Capitol in Washington, DC. Today there are only seven state Capitols without domes.

You have a lot of choices these days if you’re looking for a work from home job online. With the lack of traditional job available the timing couldn’t be better.

In this article we’ll give you a few ideas on how to work from home. Better yet is many of these require no experience or very little experience. Many of these online jobs can be completed around your schedule without taking a lot of time.

As with all types of internet jobs you do need to be careful of scams. If you’re asked to pay up front for your services you should beware. It doesn’t necessarily mean that these aren’t legitimate but you do need to research them and weigh the reviews.

If you have good writing abilities you can make money submitting articles written by you on a variety of different topics. EZine and Associated Content are a couple of article directories to consider.

Blog and website owners are always looking for fresh content to help their sites rank high on the search engines. Many of them don’t have the time or skill to write articles themselves so will pay others for them.

If you can meet their schedules, many companies now have customer service jobs and telesales jobs available. The benefit to these is that they are typically more like a traditional job. This means that the hours and pay may be more consistent.

The downside though, is that you might not necessarily have the flexibility in the schedule that other internet jobs offer.

As with anything, the more you can become an expert at what you do, the better you can brand yourself. This is known as attraction marketing and will help you get more work and better quality work than your competition.

How To MAXIMIZE Your Listing’s Exposure On eBay

When listing an item for sale on eBay you first need to decide which eBay category (or categories) you are going to list your item in because WHO you are selling to will determine HOW you will list it.

For instance, a Swiss Army Knife is a multi-functional tool that has many uses. It is useful for campers, fishermen, etc. If you wanted to list it in the Sporting Goods > FISHING > Universal Accessories category, your title and sales copy (the words you use in your listing) will be different to how you list it in the Sporting Goods > CAMPING > Knives & Tools category.

To find appropriate categories to list your item in, click on “Buy” at the top of eBay’s page, then enter keywords that are relevant to your item in the first search box. Continuing my Swiss Army Knife example, relevant keywords to do searches on would be “Swiss Army Knife”, “Camping Knife”, “Fishing Knife”, etc.

Once you’ve entered relevant keywords in the first search box, select “All Categories” from the drop down menu in the second search box then click “Search”. On the search results page, on the left under “Refine search” you will see a list of all the categories that everyone else in your market is using. To find the best categories to list in click on each of these categories in turn and then click on the “Completed listings” option under “Preferences” on the left hand side. (You must be signed in to your account for the “Completed listings” option to appear.)

You can now see which listings in which categories attracted the most bids and which sold at the highest prices. These are the categories that you need to list in. Don’t worry about the competition. You need competition to have a market. Don’t make the mistake of listing in the wrong category so you have less competition – people who see your auction won’t be interested in it because they aren’t looking for your item in that category! Also eBay will remove your listing (and if you persist – close your account) if you list in the wrong category.

Consider listing in different categories if appropriate. TEST, TEST, TEST! It’s very cheap and easy to test each category that you think might be relevant – that’s one of the beauties of eBay!

As well as testing different categories, consider testing other country’s eBay sites. One of the major benefits of eBay (and the internet) is you can reach the whole world from your home. eBay has sites for many countries. The US is still the most popular and by far the biggest site. By selling in more than one country, you have a bigger market and so are likely to sell more. Plus your product may be more popular abroad than at home and/or may be easy to get at home but impossible to get abroad, making it a much more sought after product abroad than it is at home.

It would be very cheap and easy for you to run a few test auctions on various eBay sites to find out if your products sell well abroad. You will find a list of links to each eBay site at the bottom of your country’s eBay home page. Naturally it would be easier to list your items for sale on other eBay sites that are in English. But if you are fluent in French, for example, there is no reason why you couldn’t list your items for sale in French on the French eBay site. Or perhaps you know someone who is fluent in French who could translate your listing for you? If not, you might be able to find someone who will translate your listing for you at a very reasonable price at elance dot com.

This article is about running an eBay business but there are many other online auction sites, although they don’t get as much traffic as eBay does. Some are very specialist. You may find one that caters specifically for your niche so why not test listing on that site with listing on eBay as well as testing different eBay categories and different eBay national sites? Currently, I run some Google ppc adwords campaigns for customers of mine and they do well enough at it to stay with it.

But I just love FREE TRAFFIC for my sites. But not just any old traffic. I need traffic coming to my sales pages that are interested in buying what I am offering. Targeted traffic as it is often called.

And I love the concept of free traffic and especially free, quality traffic. When I make a sale my profit (commission) is 96 to 98% all mine. I don’t have to send out a check for the traffic as in Adwords.

Let’s take a look at my three most important, and best, ways of getting good traffic to come to my sites.

They are article marketing and keyword ranking for my site that are BOTH accomplished every time I write an article. There is NO article you can lose money or position on. They ONLY improve you.

I use my article to establish rapport and to get the reader to feel inclined to click my links at the bottom of the page in what’s known as a resource box.

But get this…this is killer.

I have a list of keywords that I picked especially for their ease in ranking for. I am currently on Google Page One for several of my keywords and they send me steady traffic. Page one on Google causes traffic! But that’s not all.

Every time I make the links in my resource box I make them like this….Find out more about “free targeted traffic” (where the quote marks frame my link words – anchor text) and that is automatically registered by Google as a one way link to my site that is named “free targeted traffic.”

Now my site moves up on the page for that exact keyword. After you do this for a while you are on page one for a bunch of them and you have targeted traffic coming to your offer! And not as a result of the article being a good traffic supplier but as a result of Google seeing your new one way link and it’s anchor text name.

That’s it folks it’s a twofer big time. Two streams of traffic for one small effort.

I have a couple of ’secrets” here. Secrets are something you don’t know..yet.

Here it is. I have a method for finding the keywords that will get me well ranked in the shortest possible time.

Here’s the other “secret.”. I submit my articles to a mass submission outfit that gets my article out to thousands of publishers. Get it. MASS submission.

Massive traffic. Massive amounts of one way anchor text links and I’m starting to MASS up some money.

Remember this on your quest for a way to make money online. This one thing.

Money = Offer + Traffic… or… Offer + Traffic = Money. It is expressed in some other ways, too. Most people would agree that it’s the traffic that is hardest to get. But it’s not hard after you have been at what I am doing for the last few months. This is getting big.

This is the only actually simple method of making money online that I know of. And you can do it too.

Once you find a reputable source, you then need to be sure the recommended strategies and tips will work in your case. Before accepting and making use of any Internet marketing information you find, make sure it is applicable to your particular business model. In other words, if someone is making a fortune selling information products to an international audience and you are running a dry cleaning service in Topeka, Kansas – you might want to look for advice more relevant to your own situation.

This is where good old-fashioned common sense comes into play.First, find someone who is already successful doing what you want to do. Then, do your research and make sure he or she is legit. Finally, start with the basics and build from there. You will find the tried-and-true fundamentals don’t change nearly as rapidly as the latest fads do. Before you know it, you’ll be on your way to building a profitable and sustainable long-term business online.

MSN’s new counterpart Bing is rewriting search engine history. Touted by Microsoft as the first ever “decision engine” it’s picking up steam like Yahoo in its heyday and is in place to give Google a serious run for its money.

Speaking of “serious”; it’s important to mention that MSN and now Bing are the search engine of choice for most credit card carrying adults. In fact, MSN Bing is the default search engine on every new Windows PC sold. That’s Big! A lot of people go to Google for playing around but stick to Bing when they mean business. And that’s great for you!

I recently obtained ten (out of 10!) top five placements on MSN Bing using a simple formula I can share right now. It took me only a few hours to do all the work, including the domain purchase and setting up hosting. Here is that magic formula:

* Focus on just one keyword for the site. Make it your most important.

* Use the exact keyword phrase as your domain name and be sure it ends in .com, .net, or .org. It is fine to use dashes between each or any combination of words in the domain name. They are treated as spaces by the search engine and are typically much easier to get than domains without dashes.

* Pay for two or more years when you register the domain. They appear to be using Google’s trick of checking registration dates and giving preference to those registered for more than one year.

* Post just one or two pages. If you need more than a home page, add a contact page or something else light on text. Note: You can use your site as a landing page and create links to all of your main site’s pages.

* Keep your home page text between 250 and 400 words. If you need to say more, add images that contain the text you want displayed.

* Put your keywords in the headings but do not use “head tags” or “strong tags.” Just make the text big and bold using the “bold tag.”

* Use your keyword phrase up to two times per one hundred words of text, but do not go over five full mentions for the entire page of text (plus up to two more for headings.)

* Mention your full keyword phrase once toward the beginning of the first paragraph and again within the first one third of the page text. Then use it once near the end of the page text. The other mentions can go anywhere in between.

* If you decide to go the software route to get faster results (still using these tips), stick with one that works well for MSN Bing. Many do not. Note: I developed the method above by using the tool I found at http://www.SEOeliteWeb.com.

Results: Here’s one example… I took one local client’s main keyword phrase of “richmond auto repair”, separated each word with a dash and registered the dotcom version. Within two weeks it became number one on MSN Bing for that keyword phrase and has stayed there as a gateway to the main site. It’s been four months now and I’ve done this for dozens of keywords, with my last experiment yielding 10 for 10 using just the tips listed here.

You can do it too.

Have you ever Google your own name?

How many of the listings on page 1 are about you?

How many are about some other jack ass that just happens to be lucky enough with the exact same name as you?

If a potential client or customers is researching you, the first place they will go to (in most cases) is Google. Of course, your website should be there, but what are some other easy ways to own the 1st page with more content about you?

It’s actually not terribly hard, and it doesn’t require a whole lot of work.

Just create profiles on these social media sites, and be somewhat active, and you will rocket to the top within weeks or even days if your name isn’t too competitive.

Amazon.com – since we all know “poor people have big televisions and rich people have big TV’s” …all of us should have a large collection of books. If you read, why aren’t you ordering all your books Amazon.

Amazon lets you to make a profile that includes all your relevant info…and lets you review books (and anything else they sell…which is just about everything). Each review links back to your profile and once you get enough links you will start to see it pop up in the search results.

Naymz.com – this is probably the only site on the list you haven’t heard of, and I don’t really use it at all…but it’s on the first page of the search engines for my name. All I did on Naymz was set up an account when a friend sent me an invitation, and then sent invites to my contact list. That was it.

I’ve gone in maybe 5 times in the last 2 years to manage invite requests. Don’t expect to make a lot of valuable connections here, this is just super easy to get set up and see fast results.

Facebook.com – if you aren’t highly involved with Facebook already you’re a big marketing chance. The go ahead and establish your account, then, just like with LinkedIn, upload your contact/client/prospect list. However, don’t add more than 500 connections in one day. Once you have enough friends you can set up a vanity url. Then, choose a variation of your name (i.e. facebook.com/brian.horn). If you build a decent sized Friends list, you should see it at the top of the search engines.

Twitter.com – not to beat a dead horse, but Twitter is a must for entrepreneurs.

Side note: I just got back from speaking engagement at a Social Media Summit in Las Vegas very early this morning (this blog post is actually being typed 30,000 feet in the air somewhere over Utah), and had a chance to meet Tony Hseish, who is the CEO of Zappos.com. Very cool guy who is extremely active on Twitter.

You need to be interacting with your clients and potential clients in this new media or another person will, but if you need an another excuse, its quite easy to get your Twitter page to rank of the search engine also. Like the others I mentioned, just create a vanity url with your name, and start getting as many connections as possible.

LinkedIn.com – LinkedIn is more of a tool for people in the corporate world, and I reeally don’t us it at all. But you can still get it to rank on page 1 of Google. Use a vanity url with your name or company name (whatever you are trying to rank for). Fill it out completely and try to get a few recommendations. You can upload your email list and quickly find out which ones are active menbers.

You can also upload your client email addresses, or even your prospect list (I highly recommend connecting with everyone…especially now that Linked In can automatically receive your Twitter updates…you don’t even have to login to LinkedIn to keep fresh content.

Very slick upgrade that came out on Monday. All your contacts within LinkedIn will link back to your profile. The more links back to it, the better. Get enough and your profile will start to rank.

Summary

So there you have it…5 social media sites that allow you to create profile that can rank on page 1 of Google for your name.

I didn’t spend any time trying to make this happen for myself, it was just a pleasant side result of being active in other social media/social networking sites. Although I have been able to replicate it for some of my clients.

We had absolutely no national debt… We had the largest middle class in the world.. and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What the heck happened???

The phenomenon of swine flu, which is commonly found in pigs, is H1N1 virus. The consequences become severe when this bug invades human means and it then is known as a pandemic virus. This agonizing deadly disease has shaken many countries recently.

It is a respiratory track infection, which spreads from person to person. The early symptoms may be dealt with local drugs but if such measures aren’t taken the disease may show its deadly moves. Early diagnose is based on the symptoms which can be high fever, body aches, headaches, cough, runny nose, fatigue or tiredness, diarrhoea and/or vomiting.

The spreading of this virus is similar to the common human flu i.e. from one person to another. Care must be taken that the person infected from this particular illness is to be kept away from other individuals. There had not been many cases and only those individuals were infected who had close exposure to pigs.

Recent studies had shown that this virus is not having any relation to the appetizing meal (pork). So the lovers who can not bare the sight of pork being abandoned shouldn’t give up as it is safe to have the scrumptious meal.

Unlike most recent years, in which one or two cases of human swine flu were reported in the United States, at least 40 cases of swine flu in humans were reported as of April 27, 2009-the date CDC declared the issue a public health emergency.

The global outbreak had also alerted medical research centres and antiviral flu drugs have been identified, like Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir) are available to the chaos creator. These drugs are to be taken within limit as they are not prescribed for the common viral infections. Other precautions are vital in order to prevent this virus spreading rapidly. So far, this virus has been shunned by the South Asian countries but they must be aware by the facts that if this bug erupts conspicuously, it could hardly be treated.
